All lectures will be in the Percy Roberts Room.


Posters

The Poster Display Area is in the Gordon Museum. Posters should be 1m wide by 1m high Winter Meeting. Posters should be mounted on the numbered boards at the start of the meeting on Thursday 16th December. There will be a formal Poster Discussion Session at 11.00-12.00 on Friday 17th December, at which Winter Meeting time presenters are requested to stand by their posters to discuss the contents. Discussion of poster communications at the Poster Discussion Session satisfies the requirements that the abstracts have undergone a form Winter Meeting of peer review prior to publication in Journal of Anatomy.

^ ANATOMICAL Winter Meeting SOCIETY COMMITTEE MEETINGS

On Thursday 16th December 2010, there is to be a Council Meeting from 6.00pm to 8.00pm in the Aescalepius Room, Gordon Museum, Hodgkin Building, King’s College, (Guy ’s Campus), London, SE1 1UL. A Winter Meeting Council dinner will follow at 8.15 pm in the Wadloe Room at Skinkers Winebar, 42 Tooley Street, London SE1 2SZ.

instructions for submitting Abstracts

^ PLEASE READ Winter Meeting CAREFULLY


Contributed abstracts are invited for General oral and poster sessions of the Anatomical Society.


Please complete the attached forms and provide author details, including email, and preference for a poster or oral Winter Meeting communication. The organisers may request a change of preference, depending on programming constraints. Any such change will be notified as soon as possible after the abstract submission deadline.


The text of Winter Meeting abstracts should reflect what will be presented, and authors should aim for clear simple summaries. The title should reflect the content of the abstract and, where relevant, should include the species of Winter Meeting animal used. Names of authors should be on a separate line, followed by the affiliations in full. For example:

^ Stereological study of the effects of wheat germ oil on preventing adverse effects Winter Meeting of para-n-nonylphenol on the testis structure in adult rats.

The text Winter Meeting of the abstract should be no more than 350 words. The text should state briefly, without subheadings or paragraphs, the purpose of the study (what question was asked and why), the Winter Meeting methods used, the findings and their significance (please avoid such phrases as “the significance of the findings will be discussed”). It is essential when describing experiments using living animals that reference is мейд to Winter Meeting any anaesthetic and surgical procedures involved, and when appropriate it is stated how animals were killed. The species used must be stated in the abstract title. Where abstracts refer to experiments Winter Meeting on living human subjects they must include a statement that the experiments were performed with the understanding and consent of the subject. References should not be necessary, but where essential they should follow the Winter Meeting example “... it has been proposed (Poole, J. Anat. 191, 1997) …”; do not include page numbers.


It will be assumed that all abstracts are also submitted for subsequent publication in the Journal of Winter Meeting Anatomy. (If an abstract is not intended for publication this should be notified in writing at the time of submission). The peer review requirement of the Journal will be met by the Winter Meeting discussion period at the end of each talk, or, in the case of posters, during the poster discussion session. In all cases the decision about acceptability for publication ultimately lies with the Winter Meeting Editor of the Journal.
